There is no single answer to this question and pages that give one are wrong for about half the people who ask it. Age counts completed birthdays, so everyone born in 1930 spends part of 2026 at 95 and the rest at 96. A birth year of 1930 places you in the Silent Generation.

Why the answer is a pair
Age in the US and almost everywhere else is age at last birthday: you are 95 until the day you turn 96, and then you are 96 for a year. Subtracting 1930 from 2026 gives 96, which is only right for the people whose birthday has already gone. For everyone else it is a year too high, and for anyone born on 31 December it is a year too high for all but one day of the year.
